Uniting Church National History Panel Discussion

The Uniting Church National History Society recently held a webinar on the Church’s response to redress arising out of the Child Abuse Royal Commission. Panellists UCA Redress Ltd National Director Sarah Lim, Professor Shurlee Swain of ACU, Dr Janice McRandal of Wesley Mission Qld, and Qld barrister Melia Benn held an extensive discussion on redress in the UCA and broader global contexts with UCNHS President Associate Professor Glen O’Brien.

Apology

On 22 October 2018, the Prime Minister offered a national apology to victims and survivors of institutional child sexual abuse. The Uniting Church marks the anniversary of the apology each year.

Memorial

The Australian Government is progressing the recommendation of the Royal Commission that a national memorial be established for victims and survivors of institutional child sexual abuse.
